To turn on all three Gift Shop floodlights, collect the basement fuses, install one in each pillar box, reach the rafters through the arcade, pull the levers above those pillars, and then return to the floor to power each light individually. Installing the fuses is only the first electrical stage. The overhead connections and the final floor-level activations are still required.
The three useful floor landmarks are the office, toys section, and arcade. Remember them while installing the fuses because you will return to the same equipment later with the Brontosaurus in the shop. This is the released-game Chapter 1 sequence; the lighting plan does not end with a permanent safe zone.
Start the Lighting Objective in Dalton's Office
Cross the Gift Shop and enter Dalton's office on the other side. Play the VHS recording, then speak with Stella. The conversation gives you the immediate plan: retrieve replacement fuses from the basement, install them in the floodlights, and connect the equipment to the grid from above.
Stella gives the basement door code, 1903. Leave the office, turn right, then turn left at the end to reach the basement entrance. Use the keypad to open it and take your flashlight downstairs.
This keypad is separate from the employees-only entrance code near the beginning of the game. The torn admission notes are not needed for the Gift Shop basement. If you are standing at the correct basement door after the office conversation, use Stella's code rather than a number copied from an earlier puzzle.
Collect the Three Replacement Fuses
At the bottom of the basement, look straight ahead for the first fuse. The second is farther back and a little to the left of the first. Turn left again for the third. Collect the set before returning upstairs so that you can repair all three pillar boxes during the next phase.
The basement contains optional objects as well as the required equipment. For the lighting objective, focus on the fuse pickups and confirm that you have collected them before leaving. You are about to enter a pursuit stage, so knowing the route back up and the three floor destinations is more useful than searching every corner while the encounter is underway.

Floor-level electrical work comes before the overhead connection stage.
Install a Fuse at Each Pillar
The fuse boxes are on pillars around the Gift Shop. Use the surrounding merchandise and room features to distinguish them instead of treating the space as three identical controls.
| Pillar landmark | Required action during this phase |
|---|---|
| Near Dalton's office | Install a replacement fuse in the box |
| Near the toys section | Install another replacement fuse |
| Near the arcade | Install the final replacement fuse |
Start with the box near the office. A dinosaur mascot begins following Jordan during this stage. Create distance before committing to the fuse interaction, then move toward the next landmark once the installation is complete.
Run toward the toys section for the next box, then continue to the pillar near the arcade. The immediate purpose of movement here is to give yourself time to use the equipment. Remaining at a box while the pursuer is already beside you makes the interaction much harder to finish safely.
Do not turn this into a search for three additional basement fuses after every completed installation. You already collected the required set. Check which pillar has received its fuse and move to the remaining destination.
Enter the Arcade and Reach the Upper Route
After placing all three fuses, enter the arcade. Go straight through it and turn left at the end to find the vent. Crawl through to reach the next part of the route.
The arcade is a transition into the overhead part of the puzzle. Continuing to inspect machines on its floor does not connect the lights. Look for the vent and the platforming route that carries you above the shop.
The encounter changes as you advance. Benji's pursuit gives way to the larger threat in the Gift Shop, so keep following the route rather than expecting the arcade to remain a permanent refuge. Your next targets are the levers above the pillars where you installed the fuses.

Enter the arcade to continue toward the upper route.
Pull the Levers Above All Three Pillars
From the upper structures, jump between the platforms and reach the controls above the three repaired pillars. Pull each lever to complete the overhead work. The route ties back to the same office, toys, and arcade positions you identified on the floor.
If an interaction begins but does not finish, keep holding the required input until the lever completes its movement. A partial pull should not be counted as a completed connection. Check the objective after each control rather than assuming that touching the handle was enough.
The Brontosaurus roams below during this part of the sequence. Keep your next landing in view when crossing between supports. Falling to the floor before the overhead work is complete can leave you trying to recover the route while the encounter is active.
You eventually reach a vent that leads back into the office. Use that return route after completing the required levers. Do not mistake arrival at the office for the final lighting activation: the lights still need to be switched on individually from the floor.

Reach the overhead platforms for the connection stage.
Return to the Floor and Power Each Floodlight
After the upper route, go back to the three fuse-box positions and activate their floodlights. The boxes are the same landmarks used earlier; you are now completing a later interaction rather than installing a fresh set of fuses.
The Brontosaurus is present on the floor, so move deliberately between the controls and keep track of the remaining lights. Avoid losing your route by sprinting aimlessly across the open shop. Use the objective and the equipment states to decide which pillar still needs attention.
The distinction between the stages is the central solution:
- The basement supplies the replacement fuses.
- The pillar boxes receive those fuses.
- The rafters provide the overhead connections.
- The return trip to the floor powers the individual lights.
A light being set up does not mean it is powered on. Jordan's conversation with Stella makes that distinction explicit, and the encounter requires you to finish the job despite the creature interrupting the plan.
Leave When the Objective Changes to Escape
After powering the lights, head for the exit to the right of the office. The Brontosaurus destroys that way out. Turn back and run straight ahead along the escape route, crossing the platforms and continuing down into the basement and caverns.
This destruction is part of the sequence's escalation. It is not an instruction to replace all three fuses again. Once the game is directing an escape, following the changing route matters more than revisiting equipment that has already been used.
Keep moving through the descending platforming section until Jordan reaches the caverns. That transition marks the end of the first chapter's Gift Shop sequence. Turning on the floodlights does not safely return Jordan to the roadside attraction's exterior.
Distinguish a Missed Step from a Blocked Checkpoint
If progress stops, check the active objective against the four stages above. An objective still mentioning overhead connections points you back to the rafters. An activation objective points you toward the floor controls. An escape objective means the equipment phase is over.
Launch-period console players have also reported a genuine Gift Shop progression problem after death, including unresponsive controls and a locked route. That cannot be solved by assuming another hidden fuse exists. Steam 1.0.9 does not specifically confirm a fix for this Gift Shop door, and the matching console version numbers are unconfirmed here.
If a completed encounter reloads into an inactive state, record the platform, installed version, current objective, and the control that fails to respond. A community shelf bypass is only a reported workaround; there is no verified precise bypass route or guaranteed recovery to substitute for the intended lighting sequence.
